PipeLine Coating Repair Patch for 3PLE

Repair Patch are used to repair 3PLE coatings of pipe.

The Repair Patch consists of an electron beam–irradiated, cross-linked high-density polyethylene (HDPE) backing coated on the inner surface with a high-temperature, high-melting-point semi-crystalline thermoplastic adhesive. The patch is designed to be applied over the filler mastic covering the damaged area, providing long-term mechanical protection and corrosion resistance. The HDPE backing layer is thermally stabilized and formulated with ultraviolet (UV) resistance to ensure durability under harsh environmental conditions.

Repair Patch Construction

First Layer: High-performance copolymer hot-melt adhesive, engineered for strong bonding and sealing performance.
Second Layer: Electron beam radiation cross-linked high-density polyethylene (HDPE) backing, providing excellent mechanical strength, impact resistance, and environmental protection.
Melting Stick: Hot-melt adhesive filler compatible with the repair patch adhesive layer, ensuring uniform adhesion and complete encapsulation of the repair area.

Repair patch application procedure

Instructions:

Using a cutter, we remove the damaged part.
Degrease the surface with the help of a suitable solvent.
Remove all contamination and provide appropriate roughness with the help of a wire brush.
Heat the damaged surface with a hot torch.
Using the flame of a torch, heat the mastic filler and the surface simultaneously.
- Note: To prevent damage to the remaining coating, please avoid moving the torch.
Melt the mastic filler until the damaged surface is completely be filled and the molten material should be above the surface and finally, we heat the entire molten surface. Continue to cover.
Cut the required amount of patch from the ripper (ten centimeters more than the damaged surface).
We cut the corners of the cut part.
Smooth the molten surface with a spatula.
Heat the NIAKIMYA repair patch from the inside until it becomes completely shiny.
Place the repair patch on the damaged area before the temperature of the previously heated damaged area drops.
Finally, gently roll it over with a roller, taking care not to stretch the tape.

The permanently tacky mastic adhesive provides complete coverage of the welded steel surface and overlaps adjacent coating areas, creating a continuous barrier against corrosion and moisture ingress.
The high-performance mastic layer bonds effectively to both sides of the pipeline coating system, preventing water penetration and protecting the steel substrate from corrosion. Its superior peel strength and lap shear strength ensure long-term adhesion and reliability.
The coating system offers excellent impact resistance, self-healing characteristics, and resistance to coating disbondment, helping maintain corrosion protection throughout the service life of the pipeline.
Suitable for pipeline rehabilitation, corrosion repair, field joint coating, and maintenance applications where durable environmental protection is required.

2 years when stored under recommended conditions.
Store in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated environment.
Keep products in their original packaging until use.
Protect from direct sunlight, rain, snow, dust, and other environmental contaminants.
Avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures above 40°C (104°F) or below -20°C (-4°F).
Installation should be carried out in accordance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
